Rage Of Depression
By: Mark Sharer
I think this painting related to the quote by Dorothy Rowe. What I interpret of this painting is that the angry blue person is the cruel jailer who is evil and locks all the people, (the coloured people being the suffering prisoners). The suffering prisoners have no faces, they are just walking around, for me this means that they are sad/depressed. This sadness is leading them to a subliminal death( the graveyard in the left corner). The cruel jailer who looks happy that he is succeeding in trapping 'jailing' them.
This painting in my opinion best relates to the short story by James Stewart. The coloured people with no expression being the persons emotions: sad, angry, happy while the blue face is the character. The blue face is the rage that (s)he is feeling towards themself for self-harming.
