Tapestry Proposal- Depression

"Depression is nourished by a
lifetime of ungrieved
and unforgiven hurts.”
— Penelope Sweet

What does this Quotation mean?
This quote is saying that as we go through life we experience many traumas/sorrows that we hold on to and try to hide. By doing this we are 'feeding' and creating depression.

How does this quote revel or explain two sides of my theme?
This quote explains how many people tend to build up how they feel and them attempt to store it in them without letting it out. All this emotion attacks you and eventually pulls you into depression.

Examples:
Mad World - Gary Jules
'The tears are filling up their glasses, No expression, no expression."

Red Sam - Flyleaf
'But who are you, you are the truth, outscreaming these lies..."

"Depression is a prison where
you are both the suffering
prisoner and the cruel jailer."
-Dorothy Rowe

What does this quote mean?
This quote means that when you're depressed you are suffering from hurt as well as the one causing it.

How does this quote revel or explain two sides of my theme?
'Cruel jailer' trying to reveal that you are the one punishing yourself by holding on to whatever it is that is causing you pain. 'Suffering prisoner' is explaining how that when you are also suffering because you take the abuse you are giving to yourself.

Examples:

  1. So if I am correct, your two sides will be the cause of depression and the effect it has on a person?

Think about some films or tv shows that maybe will support your ideas for both sides (the tv show Hoarders, for example, may help you to look at the effects of depression). You may even find some non-fiction about depression too.
