Run Away
By: Destinie Baker

run away from your regrets,
no one can help you now.

you're trapped in a world of lies,
everything around you is fake.
everything you do is an illusion.

you're a statue.
you're solid rock.
you're forgotten.

hide from your pain.
pretend everything is okay,
paint a smile on your face and forget.

love doesn't exist.
its just a word misused,
it means nothing.

run, before your trapped.
hide, from the truth.
hurry, because your gonna get hurt.

... This poem best relates to the quote by Penelope Sweet. /"Run away from your regrets, no one can help you now/".(P1). This is a perfect example to show the relation to the quote. Penelope says that 'depression is nourished by a life time of ungrieved and unforgiven hurts',  the poem is expressing that you should run away from your regrets, by running away you are nourishing your depression. Running away is just another way to hide 'ungrieved and unforgiven' pain.                                                                                            In the short fiction by James Stewart he is expressing the pain this person is feeling, when the poem says; /"you're trapped in a world of lies, everything around you is fake, everything you do is an illusion./"(p2), this to me relates to when James says 'It tears at the walls of my consciousness, screaming laughing, too at my weakness.'(James). They both are trying to express feeling. Lies, fake, illusion, you're feeling these emotions just like the character of the short fiction is feeling the pain depression is causing them....
